Jenny HernandezCounseling Intern

Jenny was born to a loving, intelligent, and fun quadripelic father and always felt like a part of the disability community. She grew up seeing him do things differently, but always doing them- which gave her a sense that life was a series of fun problem-solving challenges!

She got her teaching credential in special education, moderate/severe, with an inclusion focus from Cal State Northridge and then a Masters in SPED- physical and health impairments and a concentration in alternative augmentative communication from SF State.

She taught and coached in preschool-12th grade for about 10 years before shifting to emotional and mental health. She became yoga teacher certified and then studied mindfulness at a Buddhist monastery for 3 years.

To loop all her experiences together, she completed the behavior analyst program at Florida Tech and is now in the process of wrapping up her supervision hours to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst focused in compassionate care.

She’s grateful to meet so many people with unique experiences and perspectives and the Alegria community helps her work with others towards ensuring that everyone has access to exploring all the parts of themselves and the relationships in their lives.
